Florida

Currently, the Florida Department of Transportation does not allow or have specifications on recycled asphalt shingles in their mixes. Some commercial and residential mixes do allow use.

The Highland County Solid Waste Management District is successfully recycling shingles and using the recycled asphalt shingles in the county’s asphalt mixes.

Contact the state to see what the regulatory interests are in a specific project. Asphalt shingles may not be recycled if they contain asbestos.
