MontanaThe Montana Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) has pursued some pilot projects for the use of recycled asphalt shingles (RAS). For recycling, contact the state or local officials to see what the regulatory interests are in a specific project and to obtain recycling permits. The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) has specifications on the use of RAS in their mixes. The MDT has researched its properties in pavement and has considered performing a pilot project on its use in the past. The market for RAS use in the state is lacking likely due to the state’s sparse population. Montana Department of Environmental Quality Recycling & Market Development Specialist
